Antenatal Clinics

The community midwife runs this clinic. If you become pregnant, you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ at which the midwife will ask you a few questions, explain your care and carry out some general health checks. You will be seen regularly by appointment throughout your pregnancy either at the practice, at the local hospital, or at both.

Asthma

By appointment with the practice nurse.

Asthma sufferers can make an appointment for this clinic for advice and support from our practice nurses who specialise in asthma care.

Blood Tests – Venepuncture

By invitation or appointment with our Primary Health Care Assistants. These clinics are mostly morning surgeries (by appointment) so your sample can be transported to the Pathology Laboratory in a timely manner.

Bowel Screening

By postal invitation for all patients over seventy years of age. (National Screening Program)

Breast Screening

By invitation to all women aged over fifty years of age. (National Screening Program)

Cervical Smears

By invitation offered to all women at intervals according to age. (National Screening Program)

Child Immunisation & Child Health Surveillance Clinics

Clinics are by appointment with a Doctor, Health Visitor or Practice Nurse.

All new babies are invited for regular check-ups from eight weeks old.

Immunisation begins at 8 weeks old and at intervals until school age.

Contraception Services

The Practice offers a full contraception service including Contraceptive Implants, Coil Fitting (IUD), Diaphragm, Pill and Injections.

COPD & COAD Clinics

Diabetes

By appointment – please contact the surgery on 01253 201365

Led by our nursing team, this clinic offers advice and general health check-ups to patients diagnosed with diabetes. Some members of our nursing team are trained and qualified to perform Insulin Initiation.

Hypertension – Blood Pressure

You can take your own blood pressure by checking your height, weight and BMI (Body Mass Index) on our waiting room machine just ask the Receptionist for a token. Alternatively you can attend a nurse run hypertensive clinic by appointment.

Medical Examinations

Some medical examinations fall outside the normal services provided under the NHS, these include Fitness to Drive, HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) , PSV (Public Service Vehicle), Taxi Driving Medical, Diving Medicals, Pre-Employment and School Medicals were an attendance will be charged.

A special appointment is required, please book through reception who will inform you of the fee chargeable.

Remember to bring the appropriate forms with you when you attend the appointment.

Minor Surgery

By appointment – please contact the surgery on 01253 201365.

Joint Injections can be done by our Doctors in surgery. In the first instance please discuss this with your Doctor who will then arrange for you to be given a future appointment.

Physiotherapy

We offer in house Physiotherapy appointments with our Physiotherapist Victoria Okeke. Victoria can help with new issues you have not been seen for. Call 01253 201365 for an appointment.

Podiatry

We offer a foot service at the practice. Call 01253 201365 to see if out Podiatrist Sam can help you.

Sexual Health Clinics

We offer daily appointments for all aspects of Sexual Health including Chlamydia Testing, STI Testing and HIV Testing.

Smoking Cessation

Call the practice for a referral to the smoking cessation service 01253 201365.

This clinic gives advice and support to patients trying to give up smoking.

Travel Vaccinations And Advice

By appointment with our Nursing Team please call 01253 201365

As travel vaccination and advice can be complicated we ask you to fill in a Travel Information form prior to attendance, this is available from our Reception.

Specialist & Hospital Care

If a GP or another member of our health care team decide you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they will make a referral for you to secondary care. They will ask you where and when you would like to go.

The doctor will then refer you to the consultant or Clinician of your choice or the consultant or Clinician with the shortest waiting list.

The practice will be able to book your appointment electronically from the surgery while you wait.

This is called Choose & Book.

If you would prefer to have some time to think before deciding where and when to have treatment, you will be offered the option of calling the practice later and we will be able to book your appointment then.
