About the Practice

Stonyhill Medical Practice serves the area of Blackpool from Waterloo Road in the north, Vicarage Lane/Midgeland Road/Queensway to the east, St Annes Road East in the south and ending at The Promenade in the west.

Stonyhill Medical Practice is a GMS (General Medical Services) practice.

Our team includes 6 GP Partners, two Salaried GP’s and a team of Nurse Practitioners, an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Nurse Associates and Primary Health Care Assistants. We also have staff in supporting roles, view their profiles in the Doctors & staff section in the left hand panel.

A Community Matron, District Nursing Team and Health Visitors are attached to the practice.

Two Practice Managers oversee the general running of Stonyhill Medical Practice who are supported by a Reception, Secretarial and Administration Team.

The practice also has three in-house Pharmacist Practitioners, Nicola Wojarski, Emma Benson and Samir Vohra. They are supported by a Pharmacy Technician Michelle Parry and two Prescription Clerks.

We offer full general practice services.

Our Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Paramedic Practitioner offer daily triage and on-the-day appointments for urgent care. Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication, they also see patients with complex chronic diseases.

The practice offers Contraception Advice including Contraception Implants.

Sexual Health Clinics are available by appointment to registered and non- registered patients.

Practice Nurses offer specialist clinics for Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Airways Diseases, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Hypertension, Smoking Cessation, Weight and Lifestyle Advice, Contraception, Women’s Health and Baby Vaccinations.

The surgery runs clinics by appointment with the Practice Nurses for Dressings, Holiday Vaccinations and Travel Advice.

Our Primary Health Care Assistants see all new patients for Well Person Checks, Blood Pressure Monitoring, Dressings, Suture Removal and Lifestyle Advice. They also assist with Minor Surgery.

The Community Midwife runs weekly Antenatal Clinics for pregnant women.

Health Visitors monitor babies and children up to school age.

In addition, our GPs offer Minor Surgery, Joint Injections, IUD fitting, Contraception Implants and a Uro-Gynaecology Clinic.

At Stonyhill Medical Practice we aim to treat all our patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence.

Stonyhill Medical Practice sometimes has to consent to Audit by the Blackpool Clinical Commissioning Group or other outside agencies. This means doctors from outside our practice may need access to medical or computer records of our patients. Medical records may be used for educational purposes. Because of this, we ask patients registering with us to sign a consent form giving permission for their records to be used in this way. This information is completely confidential and does not leave the practice.

Freedom Of Information – Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is a guide to the ‘classes’ of information the practice intends to routinely make available.

We respect your right to privacy and keep all your health information confidential and secure. Everyone working in the NHS has a legal duty to keep information about you confidential. It is important that the NHS keeps accurate and up to date records about your health and treatment so that others treating you can give you the best possible advice and care, so we may have to share information about you.

We only ever use or pass on information about you if other allied professionals have a genuine need for it and it is in your interest. Whenever we can we will remove details which identify you.

You have the right to know what information we hold about you and if you would like to see your medical records please contact the Practice Manager who can arrange a mutually convenient appointment.

Zero Tolerance

In keeping with all NHS Services the Practice operates a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY.

We aim to treat our patients courteously at all times and expect our patients to treat our staff in a respectful way. We take seriously any threatening, abusive or violent behaviour against any of our staff or other patients. If a patient is violent or abusive they will be warned to stop such behaviour. If they persist we may exercise our right to take action to have them removed from the practice list, immediately if necessary.
